ABOUT FRAISSE DESIGN
Born in a small fisherman town in the South of France, Denis grew up in synergy with marine landscapes, which he will never leave sight of. Initiated from a very young age to woodwork by his father, a boatyard owner, he started to develop his aptitude for construction, creation, and transformation of raw materials and kept on fostering his skills throughout his childhood. As a young teenager endowed with a sharp sense of self-learning, he built skateboards and kitesurf boards in the family garage. As an adult, Denis naturally orientated himself towards the fabrication of sailing boats, which competed in world-renowned races, such as Vendee Globe. From Sete to San Francisco, and for almost 25 years, Denis has built his reputation in the marine industry. Nevertheless, he has not forgotten the long hours spent in the family workshop, creating custom-made sport gears, and was nourishing the hope to resume this activity.
In 2017, Denis started the construction of wooden stand-up paddle boards. Each of them requires about 400 hours of work. Every single day at dusk, you will find him working in the workshop adjacent to his house. Encouraged by the very positive feedback he received, he started to consider expanding his activity and began to shape wood to create furniture pieces, revealing his savoir-faire to ligneous art enthusiasts.
